eDAKAL CAVES 

EDAKAL CAVES 26 kilometres away from Kalpetta lays two caves which showcases nature’s skill and philosophy on architecture. Edakkal caves are famous for its cave paintings, which are considered to be of 6000 B C. To reach the caves, one has to trek through the Ambukutty Mala. Edakkal is said to have some links with Indus Valley Civilization too. Around 400 signs were discovered recently, which had shown its relationship with the ancient civilization, TIMINGS: 9.30AM TO 4PM.


2. BANASURA SAGARA DAM  

The Banasura Sagara dam, which is the largest earthen dam in India and the second largest in Asia,  which impounds the Karamanathodu tributary of the Kabini River,  located around 21 km away from Kalpetta is a beautiful tourist destination in Wayanad. You can engage yourself in trekking and boating. Trekking is one of the top attractions here. You can plan a trek to the dark forests of Banasura Peak. A boating trip in the lake and the dam is also a unique experience for the travellers. You can choose either speed boat or pedal boat. You can also plan a trip to the small nature park, very near to the boating place, The best season to be at Banasura Sagara dam is from October to May, TIMINGS: 6AM TO 6PM.


3.  KURUVA ISLAND

Kuruva Island (Kuruva deep) is islands over the middle of Kabini River in Wayanad. The island is Located 57 kilometres from Sultanbathery, you can have a boat ride or rafting through this stream enjoying the beauty of the island. VISITING TIME: 9AM TO 4PM.  Entry to this island is restricted during rainy seasons (from June to September).


MUTHANGA WILD LIFE SANCTURY

MUTHANGA WILD LIFE SANCTURY Located around 16 km away from SulthanBathery, the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, wich connects Nagarhole and Bandipur parks in Karnataka and Mudumalai in Tamil Nadu. The second largest wildlife sanctuary in Kerala. SAFFARY TIMING: 7AM TO 10AM & 3AM 5PM.

POOKADE LAKE

WAYANAD Pookade lake 36klmtr away from Sulthanbathery, Pookode is a natural freshwater lake near Kalpetta, People come to Pookode Lake for the views and watch the animals and birds coming to the lake from the surrounding forests. The place have children’s park and a handicrafts shop too.VISITING TIME: 9AM TO 5PM.
